underage hurling success to senior glory, as Galway and Limerick have recently proved.....and Clare will do well do heed the warning....but it has been some time since I have witnessed such genuine emotion as after the final whistle in the U-21 final.....an average game but it meant so much to the Banner.
It brought home what the GAA really means
pearl jewelry and how much it can mean. In these times of doom and gloom and NAMA and Lisbon and all that, we need sport to lift the spirit. As the 10,000 or so Clare people danced and sang and jumped around, there was real happiness for those few minutes and richly deserved.
If anything, Kilkenny looked the better side for the second half and with 10 minutes should have closed the game out but sloppy finishing left the door open and Clare lads fell over the line....as is often the way when a team is desperate to break through.
I feel sorry for this Kilkenny team as they
pearl necklace battled like warriors and made the very best of themselves and this was a real team with very few stars. The sad reality for everyone else is that four or five of their team will probably make some impact in the coming years at senior level and that Clare will do well to produce as many. The biggest difference is that Kilkenny have been producing these teams for years.
A good finish to a strange year for the small ball...a terrible senior championship finished by a superb final and a great minor contest and
pearl earrings very good U-21 Championship.......
p.s what is it about women from Leeside.....they are just ruthless....Cork strolled to victory in the Camogie to claim yet another title.
